About St Andrew's Freckenham
St Andrew’s Freckenham is a lovely 12th century Grade II* listed building on the edge of the village. The worship is rooted in the traditional Book of Common Prayer but there are special informal services based on Common Worship and we now have a monthly Sunday Celebration service aimed at children and young families. The small congregation is very friendly and relaxed, and we always love to welcome children into any of our services.
"Raise the Roof" Project.
Very sadly, the lead was stripped from our roof by thieves in June 2019. We are delighted to say that late in 2020 repairs were finally completed, although work on redecoration of the interior is still needed. See a YouTube video of the aftermath of the theft here.
Churchyard Gardening Club
We have started an informal gardening club to care for and develop the churchyard as both a peaceful community space and a haven for wildlife. If you would like to join in, it couldn't be simpler - you can either adopt a portion of the churchyard or look around and see what needs doing! Just pitch up any time you are free and do a bit of weeding, snipping, strimming or mowing.
St Andrew's is proud to be the first church in the Diocese to gain a bronze Eco Church award in February 2018. In 2019 it gained a silver award and we continue to work towards gold!
